Barclays recently released figures that show that wealth is more likely to be due to business success rather than inherited wealth. The figures also showed that Britain will have the highest concentration of wealthy households of all the G7 group of industrialised nations in 10 years' time.

The most popular post code areas for wealthy families are in London, the south east and Hampshire. The researchers interviewed 500 affluent people across the UK who have more than £100,000 in investable assets.

Yorkshire came third on the list and Surrey came in at number 4 followed by Middlesex. Devon and Somerset came in joint last. Around 14% of the people surveyed said they are considering moving abroad and 46% were planning on buying a second home abroad. The growing population of wealthy home owners has put pressure on the top end housing stock and this has forced more rural and overseas purchases.
