Total mortgage approvals in September have risen to their highest level for more than two years. Statistics from the Bank of England show that total approvals rose to £295,000million making a total lending value of £30.3 billion, beating August's figure of £29.5billion. Statistics show, however, that home owners remortgaging their property fell in September. Consumer credit rose by £0.9billion, credit card lending rose by £0.4billion. The strong home approval figure has led financial experts to predict that house price inflation will remain strong in the coming months.
