Estate agents are selling £1m homes as the rate of 14 a day. The Land Registry statistics show that the top end of the housing market is showing the most activity and is still alive and well. The number of houses sold for more than £1million rose to almost 75% to 1,246 during the three month period. Wealthy home owners on 209 occasions sold properties of more than £2million a rise of 87%.

Outside London, 49 mansions were sold and 27 were sold in Surrey. Record City bonuses have fuelled the top end housing market but it is not just the South of England that has seen a high end housing resurgence. In some parts of Wales the prices of property have almost doubled. The average house price in England and Wales reached £199,184 between April and June - 7.7% higher than last year.
